NetEase, Inc., a premier

the 2002 Technology and Service Enhancements Project
aimed at providing improved connectivity, web hosting, and customer
support services to its national subscriber base. In additional
to new server technology upgrades aimed at improving dial-up
connectivity speeds (see authentication
and DNS server releases), additional
home subscriber services include a new personalized information
portal service - The
NetEase Neighborhood Portal - as well as a new
Web Hosting Management service that is scheduled for release
in March.
New V.92
modem software that allows concurrennt use of telephone and dial-up
capabilities on call-waiting enabled phone lines will be installed
as soon as it becomes available from NetEase's connectivity
partner 3comm's Commworks
division. Due to expanded nationwide service coverage, NetEase
has also updated its referral program
(see release) aimed at providing
added discount value to referring NetEase customers and their
new referred friend. The neteze.com site underwent a redesign
(see release) to improve customer's
information needs and overall usability, and to better reflect
NetEase's brand attributes.
For NetEase business subscribers, improved broadband offerings
are in the works along with a turnkey virtual internet service
provider (VISP) service developed for the needs of the newspaper
publishing industry. Titled WebPress
(release) this service enables
newspaper companies to grow their internet subscriber base
by providing internet access.
